The Artists William Sterling Walker began dance training at the age of 14, at the Chamber Ballet (now the
Virginia Regional Ballet) in Williamsburg, Virginia. He went on to
receive the Artist Merit Award from the Virginia School of the Arts,
and was a Regional Dance America scholarship recipient. He also trained
with the Allegheny Ballet Company, and Central Pennsylvania Youth
Ballet. He has danced professionally with the Richmond Ballet, Starr
Foster Dance Project, Chris Burnside and Dancers, Charisma Dance
Theater, and has guest taught and performed throughout Virginia and
beyond as far reaching as central Mexico, the coast of Columbia South
America and Southern Spain. He is a certified teacher in the Wolf
Trap teaching method for children. William taught for eleven years
Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Latin, Flamenco and Techno Hip-Hop at Henrico
County High school's Center for the Arts, and The School Of The Latin
Ballet Of Virginia in which he was the Junior Company Director and
veteran dancer of it's professional company The Latin Ballet Of
Virginia. He is most pleased to be returning full circle to teach
at Virginia Regional Ballet where he was first given the
opportunity to discover the world of dance and to pass along the joys
and strength that it has given him to aspiring young people.
Bari Ramsey
has performed for over 25 years with the Richmond Indigenous Gourd
Orchestra. A multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer, Bari also
performs with his wife Hayat Bain in their Hearts of Sound
ensemble, The two weave a tapestry of gentle, heart-flowing songs that
open the inner dimensions of acceptance, peace, and grace.
Carol Fitzpatrick
has been sharing of heart-centered practices that reinforce one's
ability to heal and transform since 2003. Her fascination with story
telling began in 2001, when she met her husband and partner Mark
Torgeson. He placed a microphone her hands and began to play music.
While he plays, she brings forth magical stories inspired by the
playful adventurous eyes of little children as inspired by angelic
beings, the nature kingdoms, and mythical creatures. She is the
co-founder of Center for Planetary Awakening and the visionholder for
its mission and creator of Living the Miracle: A community building
experience for modeling heart-centered practices.
Hayat Bain
is a singer and a classically trained flutist. She has degrees in
music, psychology, and nursing, and is a holistic nurse and certified
sound healer. Hayat leads Dances of Universal Peace and is an
interfaith/interspiritual minister and a minister for the Sufi
Universal Worship and Healing Services. She is the founder and owner of Mandalas of Life through which she
offers a variety of services that help people navigate life with
holistic, heart-centered support for conscious living and optimal
health. Hayat and her husband John Bari Ramsey form the duo Hearts of Sound. Her tender alto singing
and expressive flute playing are hallmarks of the Hearts of
Sound performance style.
Mark Torgeson is
a music alchemist, creating music and soundscapes with the intention of
shifting and transforming consciousness. He has been a featured artist
at new paradigm conferences; has cofacilitated numerous consciousness
raising seminars and retreats cross country; has created and taught
courses on sound healing; has composed over 30 albums of music for
shifting consciousness and transformation; and cofounded the Center for
Planetary Awakening for teaching methods of vibrational transformation
and remaining in the heart. Mark will be performing on grand piano and Native American flute.
Giving Back
William
Sterling Walker will be dancing Magdalene, music written by Mark
Torgeson and performed by him and Hayat Bain. Will also will be
performing other improvistaional pieces accompanied by piano and flute.
Bari Ramsey will be performing original solo works on hammered dulcimer as well as duets with his wife Hayat.
Hayat Bain will be performing duet works written by Mark Torgeson and an improvisational solo on flute.
Carol Fitzpatrick will be sharing a stories about Magical Beings and children created especially for the audience!
Mark Torgeson will be performing original music on piano and Native American flute and accompanying video works he has created.
